I assisted elderly people in improving their computer skills. I helped multiple people and worked in a team with other students and teachers. Some of the things I taught were how to turn on a computer, log on, and also tried to boost their confidence when working with PC’s. This lesson consisted weekly for an hour each time and I thoroughly enjoyed working with all of the members of Age UK. This role has helped build my people skills with older people rather than the usual ages I am used to. This also helped my confidence and verbal interactions.

Pears Preschool 08/12- 08/14
I worked as a Nursery Practitioner with children aged 1 ½ to 2 years. My role included:
Providing a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in the setting. Giving support to staff by working alongside them and offering help when needed.
I was the room senior’s assistant and helped the staff in my room to exceed the expectations given by managers and also by Ofsted. I did this by helping the staff with ideas for activities to enhance and stimulate the children’s learning and also by ensuring the staff were doing what they needed to ensure the room was running as it should be. This included paperwork for the children as well as for the staff and nursery. Working as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn. Building and maintaining strong partnership working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met. I always started a short conversation with the parents to ensure they knew I was friendly and approachable. I made bonds with all of the parents of children in the nursery. One of my Key children had behavioural issues and I helped the parent through a tough time with him. I did this by comforting her and offering advice.
